
Membership is open to all individuals, regardless of race, creed, sex, religion, or national origin.
Affiliate Membership. Anyone whose work interrelates with appraisers attorneys, accountants, museum curators, insurers, bank and trust officers is encouraged to join as an Affiliate.
Student-Affiliate Membership Full or part-time Students at a college or university who are pursuing a career in valuation sciences should apply for membership as a Student-Affiliate.
Candidate Membership
Everyone else should apply for Candidate membership.
Membership Requirements
Candidates and Affilates must be of legal age, interested in the activities and objectives of the society, and of good character. They shall have established financial responsibility and residence and business experience in the community. Members are required to abide by the current versions of the Code of Ethics of the society, as well as by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) published by The Appraisal Foundation. ASA dues and fees vary according to the category of membership.
ASA members must qualify for mandatory recertification every five years, and, as required by The Appraisal Foundation, complete USPAP course work within each five-year cycle.
