February Meeting: Economic Outlook

The February chapter meeting will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the L'Olivier Restaurant. ASA members are invited to attend the Board of Directors meeting at 5:30 p.m. The Chapter meeting will get underway with a networking mixer at 6:30 p.m. Gary ZimmermanDinner is at 7:00 p.m. when the guest speaker will be Gary C. Zimmerman, a Senior Economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco who will present a Regional Economic Outlook. Mr. Zimmerman's presentation will address various markets, and should be of interest to all appraisal disciplines, particularly now as the economy reels from the subprime mortgage debacle while careening into an uncertain Presidential election. The program qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit. Attendance certificates will be distributed during the program. All ASA members are invited. Ms. Horn, who is Assistant Vice President & Practice Manager, D&O at Woodruff-Sawyer & Company, will present From the Appraiser's Perspective: Limiting Your Liability As An Expert. Mr. Castoria, who is a Partner in the San Francisco office of Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP, will discuss Who Can Sue a Forensic Expert? Why Professional Liability Happens. The presentations will focus on strategies to reduce the risk of professional liability exposure for appraisers operating in today's litigious environment. Ms. Horn and Mr. Castoria will provide insurance and legal perspectives to help identify and treat potential liability exposure. The program qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit.
