ASA Co-Sponsors Talk at Cantor Center

Tom Stone, Lissa Cooley, and Niccolo Caldararo Tom Stone, ACRP, FIIC left, Head Conservator of Ethnological Objects at the Canadian Conservation Institute in Ottawa, addressed personal property appraisers and fine art conservators on The Evaluation of Conservation Treatments at the Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University, on May 25, 2006. On hand for the talk -- made even more enjoyable by wine and appetizers -- were Lissa A.N. Cooley, ASA, center, President of the ASA San Francisco Chapter, and Niccolo Caldararo, right, President of the Bay Area Art Conservation Guild(BAACg). Mr. Stone's presentation, co-sponsored by ASA Personal Property members and the BAACG, included descriptions and slides of objects in Canadian museums that had been restored some years earlier, and that he recently revisited to determine the effectiveness of conservation treatments. President Cooley summed up the event, saying "This was the type of informal gathering where everyone learns something new, and the bond between personal property appraisers and fine art conservators is reinforced for the benefit of all."
